Night Club Promotions

by Frank Greene

The college years were simple. Sure, you had bundles of homework, midterms, finals, and papers to worry about, but life was a blast. You can't tell me otherwise. I was there and saw the bliss circulating throughout the campus. And I wasn't one of those luck few whose parents fund everything either. I had the part-time job, and I did the student loan thing.

But, college was still fun and I'll tell you why. You don't have to grapple with the "real world" just yet. Nope; these are your last days before it hits you up-side the head. Oh, and of course there were all those nifty club scenes. Yeah, we can't forget about those. Clubbing is where it's at in college, hence all the night club promotions floating around campus.

He loved to sit silent in a corner of his club and listen to the loud chattering of politicians, and to think how they all were in his power—how he could smite the loudest of them, were it worth his while to raise his pen for such a purpose.
—Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

I'm not sure what everyone else encountered at their University, but at mine, students liked to hit up the local bars and clubs on a regular basis. Friday and Saturday nights were always booming with college students. But they weren't even the BIG night of the week. No sir; that was Thursday. I know what you may be thinking.

Thursday? What's so great about that particular day? Well, in our neck of the woods, Thursday meant a discount on drinks. You better believe this brought out all the partying students. Also, keep in mind that my school was not located on one of those traditional campuses with huge green lawns and other University traditional hoopla. We were smack-dab in the city, and we loved it. There were plenty of places to go for lunch, and all the local clubs were nearby.

I can still recall seeing night club promotions stapled to poles and billboards around campus. And we definitely responded to these babies. If you ask me, these night club owners/promoters were smart. What better crowd to appeal to, than a bunch of wild students?.

A right rule for a club would be,—Admit no man whose presence excludes any one topic.
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Take a stroll around your campus. You're bound to spots some night club promotions. Get the scoop on the best hot spots in your area. It's no secret that this is where the fun's at. But before you take of to a local club, get a group of friends to go with you. This is not just for safety reasons, but also for fun purposes as well. It stinks to be stuck alone in these social meccas.
